It’s that time of year again…all sorts of edible flowers are bursting with color and flavor…lilacs are always a favorite in the Tartelette household and make a lovely cocktail of course. Palomas are my favorite libation by far…perhaps due to the color and because grapefruit juice is so scrumptious…this cocktail is so refreshing…I hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
Makes two cocktails
2 tbsp lilac simple syrup (recipe below)
Juice from 1 organic lime
Juice from 1 organic grapefruit
Juice from 1 organic lemon
Splash of sparking water
4 ounces tequila
Handful of ice
Floral sugar to rim glasses
Place all ingredients in a large cocktail shaker. Shake! Pour into two floral sugar-rimmed tumblers of your choice. Garnish with organic lilac flowers. Serve with homemade avocado crema and tortilla chips.
Lilac Simple Syrup
1 cup organic sugar
1/2 cup filtered water
1 tbsp organic lilac flowers
Place sugar, water and lilac flowers in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened into syrup. Remove from heat and allow cooling. Pour into a clean, airtight container and store in the fridge. Lilac syrup is delicious drizzled on chocolate ice cream or Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes … enjoy!
